Membership is free. It exists to keep the community verified and safe — so we know who we are helping and can protect the emergency fund from misuse. It also gives you a dashboard to track your requests, emergency fund eligibility, community rides, the housing network, and 24/7 helpline access.

Nothing. Membership is completely free and always will be. We never charge a student for help. Our work is funded by donations from supporters, alumni and partner organisations — not by the students who need us.

You can submit a request for help straight away. Your membership itself enters 'Pending Activation' status while we verify you. All new members complete an 11-day activation period before accessing the full range of foundation facilities and services. After 11 days, membership becomes Active with full access.

This policy protects the community by preventing fraud and misuse, protecting emergency funds from fake cases, properly verifying member identity, ensuring fairness for long-term members, and maintaining sustainability of community resources. United Student Association is a community safety system — not an instant-use service.

No. Membership, support requests, the helpline and every referral we make are free. Our partner employers, landlords and law firms are not allowed to charge students for referrals either. If anyone claiming to represent us asks you for money, do not pay — report it to us immediately.

By voluntary donations from supporters, alumni, local businesses and partner organisations, plus grants. Donating is entirely optional and has no effect on the help you receive — donors get no priority, and we do not track who has given when reviewing requests.
